About Us

Leather UnLimited is a sustainable and ethical company working with dedicated artisans in Bangladesh to create beautifully handcrafted colourful leather goods.

Since the late 1980’s we have worked with our Bangladesh-based artisans providing them an outlet for their skills and a steady fair income to support themselves and their families as well as educate their children.

Our own artisan's unique skills allow them to raise emboss the most intricate designs and create beautifully crafted longlasting and unusual gifts. We offer both ready-made collections and a bespoke/custom service for all our leather products.

Our Products

Our products come from sheep and goat skins that are sourced exclusively as a by-product of the local food industry in Bangladesh, helping to further reduce waste in their country and our environment.  Each skin is produced using a traditional vegetable tanning process, creating a much smaller impact on the environment compared to the typical chemical tanning processes.

With these traditional processes and natural materials come a degree of variation in skin and intensity of colour enhancing the attractive qualities of each piece.  Over time a natural change in colour can also be expected as each item develops its unique patina.

Hand Skiving Leather

Skiving is a traditional leatherworking process in Bangladesh that involves thinning or reducing the thickness of leather in specific areas. Skiving is typically performed using specialised tools like skiving knives or machines.

Embossing Using Blocks

Hand embossing using blocks with patterns is a traditional artisanal technique employed in various crafts, including leatherworking. In Bangladesh, skilled craftsmen utilise this method to embellish leather goods with intricate designs, adding a touch uniqueness to each piece.

Leather Polishing

Handmade leather polishing in Bangladesh is a vital part of traditional artisan techniques that have been passed down through generations. This process not only enhances the appearance of the leather but also ensures its longevity and durability.
